isin and Niamh
This story tells of isin, son of Finn Mc Cumaille of the Fianna, and his epic love affair with Niamh a fairy Queen from Tir na Nog. Niamh is said to have arrived on a beautiful white horse and told Finn that she was in love with his son isin and she wanted him to come back to Tir na Nog and sit by her side as King. isin went with the beautiful Niamh where he lived happily for what seemed like a couple of years but was in fact many life times back home. isin now yearned to see Erin and his people again. He left on the same white steed he had arrived on with a warning not to put a foot on the land or he would be unable to return again. When isin got back to Erin everything was changed utterly. The people were smaller and his own kind were only kept alive in story. He leaned down to help one of these struggling men, with his great strength, and the strap of his saddle broke. isin fell to the ground where all the years he had been away came on him and he died.
